Q: How old does my child have to be in order to join Colorful Moments Art School?

A: Our youngest students are six years old! Our only requirement is that students can sit reasonably still for an hour-long period and follow simple instructions.

Q: Which art mediums are taught at CMAS? Can I/my child choose for ourselves what we’d like to learn?

A: Students will be exposed to a variety of different styles of art, different media (from color pencils, pastels, watercolors to pen & ink, acrylic, oils, charcoal, graphite, and much more), along with different art techniques (from basic principles to advanced level) and projects.

Students can choose what they draw, paint and create. Our teachers usually suggest several reference pictures to each of our students from which they can pick, ensuring both a happy student and reasonably challenging, yet reachable artistic goals.

Q: What is the monthly tuition for students at this art school?

A: For students with ages 6-17, the monthly tuition is $80 for four classes. For students with ages 18+, the monthly tuition is $100 for four classes.

Q: How much 1-on-1 attention and feedback do students receive each week?

A: A lot! Students are taught individually and with a personalized curriculum, taking into account their personal abilities, skills, interests, and needs. They each move ahead at their own pace. As each student is working on their individual artwork, their teacher will provide them with intermittent feedback, demonstrate various art techniques, and explain the next steps of the drawing, painting or sculpture.

Q: How many students are in each class?

A: Most of our classes have five to six students each. We also offer some private lessons for younger students aged six to eight.

Q: Given the pandemic, what is currently the class format, online or in-person?

A: Online! We use Google Hangouts for Ms. Divya’s classes and Zoom for Ms. Malavika’s classes. We will continue with our online format until further notice.

Q: Do all students learn the same thing as each other in class?

A: No, they don’t! Depending on the student’s interests, age and experience level, they will each work with a different medium and picture.
